Saving time and money with print plan

The Customer

This year marks 10 years since TMS Motor Group was founded in the Midlands and although the business is in its relative infancy, it has come a long way since taking over Hinckley Volvo in 2006.

Since being established by Len Hallows (MD), Richard Ingram & Tony Petrie, the business is made up of two sites, including a move in late 2014 to a much larger purposely refurbished site to incorporate their Volvo and Kia franchises.

Oliver Hallows was appointed Director in 2015, but his relationship with TMS started in 2006 when he joined to look after the IT side of the business. Oliver’s role meant he would be tasked with managing the printing solutions at the various sites.

The Challenge

When it came to the business’ printing solutions, Oliver realised that they had no proper plan in place and it would make more sense to have a joined up process that would mirror their processes in the other areas of their dealerships.

“We opted to go with print plan around 2010 as we had a lot of local printers on site; each being different brands, models & types.

“Not only were we spending a lot of money on replenishing consumables for these printers, but also were the main reason for IT support requirements by users due to issues or breakdowns for printers. Being a small company this was ok for a while, but soon put a lot of strain on our resources,” he says.

The Outcome

Since the implementation of CDK’S printing solutions, TMS have been impressed by the results and they have noticed a particular improvement in the number of hardware problems they experience. “We are still very pleased with the results and would not hesitate in using the solution. We are seeing a reduction in costs from consumable spending, and in addition to this as the contracts are renewed every three years and new printers installed at this point, we are seeing virtually no breakdowns. “In fact, in the six years we have been using print plan, I would think that I could count on one hand how many actual hardware issues we have experienced. I would highly recommend print plan to anyone not just in a similar position as we were in,” he says.
